Media text: Love Island, Reality TV show (2016)
Media issue/debate: Representation of women/relationships

The reason why I have chosen this show is because it allows me to debate different issues. One of which is the representation of women- firstly they are seen as sex objects as they all dress in revealing clothes and engage in sexual activities with different men. Also, they are all pretty and have a good psychic which makes younger girls feel self conscious since its a 'reality' tv show that may make them assume they are supposed to look like them. Additionally, ITV easily allows viewers under the age to watch the show as all they have to do is press 'I agree' to being over 18 which allows them to watch the show even if they are underage. This is a issue since the show shows explicit scenes of a sexual nature. Furthermore, the girls and boys are constantly filmed smoking cigarettes which makes it appear as a casual thing which could possibly influence people to do the same as it appears as a pleasurable thing.
